Hurricane Harvey: How we can help

As floodwaters rise in Houston, Texas and the surrounding areas, all of us on staff at Hideaway Church have been praying and talking this morning about what we can do. We know so many of you are doing the same. So we’ve come up with a few things that we can do immediately as a church

1. Pray

We are right now setting up a prayer center in our church gathering room for our community. It will be opened during church office hours (8-5 pm Monday through Thursday) for you to come and pray for those affected by Harvey. We will begin posting specific names of people to pray all over the gathering room. Please email katy.a.payne@gmail.com to add the name of someone that is directly affected by the flooding. Send their names, location and your connection to the person if you’d like.

2. Donate gift cards

We are collecting gift cards to Walmart and Visa or Mastercard gift cards. We will be giving these to displaced families that are staying with members of our congregation who have lost so many of their personal belongings. This way they can meet their immediate needs as well as replace things in the long term. You can drop off gift cards in the church office during office hours starting now or bring them Sunday.

3. Give to trusted organizations

If you would like to donate financially, here are links to the  Salvation Army and Samaritan’s Purse to give online.
